RENOVATION OF THE VOGRŠČEK DAM
Consulting and engineering services were provided for the renovation of the Vogršček Dam under the umbrella contract of DRI for investments in water infrastructure, which was signed with the Slovenian Water Agency in 2019.
The renovation of the Vogršček Dam involves the construction of a 144-meter-long tunnel, the renovation and extension of the inlet, outlet, and administrative structures, as well as individual elements of the dam. A temporary embankment was built on the water side of the dam to protect the construction site for the tunnel portal and the renovation of the existing intake structure. This embankment was removed upon completion of the works. A temporary access road was also constructed to reach the portal on the dry side of the dam and the outlet structure.
In 2007, it was found that one of the three irrigation pipelines beneath the dam was leaking, and the bottom outlet structures and the remaining pipelines were in poor condition. An emergency renovation was carried out to ensure safety and stability. As a result, the pipeline was entirely filled with concrete, and the provision of irrigation water was discontinued. After a thorough examination of possible renovation options, it was decided to construct a tunnel on the left side of the dam, where three pipelines will be installed. This solution will allow for ongoing monitoring of the pipeline conditions and the ability to perform maintenance work.
