From 13 to 16 April 2016 11th International conference Road safety in local communities took place in Vrnjačka Banja in Serbia, where Barbara Klemen, Head of Department for technical management of traffic and traffic safety and Jure Prestor presented the paper "Managing of self-explaining road network in the Republic of Slovenia."
The paper addresses the issue of effective management of roads and traffic safety by giving a description of basic concepts of modern road design (self-explaining roads, forgiving roads and sustainable road safety), discusses the main shortcomings of the road network management, and offers a proposal and for setting up proactive road and infrastructure management in the Republic in Slovenia.
