At the end of October 2013 DRI concluded with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning - with a partner in a joint venture - a contract for managing the project of implementation of digital radio system GSM-R on the Slovenian railway network.
The goal of the project is to cover the whole Slovenian railway network with the system of digital communications GSM-R. For this purpose, a cable network will be constructed, the appropriate number of base stations and repeaters for radio signal and all other devices and systems for the interrupted operation of the GSM-R system will be installed. Furthermore, the interoperability with the railway systems of neighbour countries will be ensured. A construction of the new dispatching system is also a part of the project.
The project covers the entire Slovenian railway network (about 1200 km of railways) and is divided into two main stages: the first stage is the execution of works on the pilot section Sežana–Šentilj. In the second stage, the execution on all other main and regional railways in Slovenia will continue.
